Beading

Beading

What You Will Learn: Beading classes focus on creating well designed and correctly constructed necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Various bead weaving techniques and stitches will be taught including peyote, herringbone, right angle, netting, and chevron stitches, and ways all of these can be varied so as to create distinctive and attractive jewelry.

Instruction focuses on learning the particulars of various beading materials such as Firewire, various sizes of needles, and beads such as glass or freshwater pearls, Swarovski or other cut crystals, and, where appropriate for the design, natural stone. Occasional instruction in the use of wire-working tools may be included, usually in applying and/or creating attractive findings for the beaded work. Further, when time permits, ways to embellish basic designs may be covered.

Class Materials, Tools, and Supplies: Everything you need to make bracelets will be available.

Costs:  For tool kit + per class charge (twice a month).

Instructor: Sue Webb

Special Note: Sign-ups at the general meeting are preferred. Normally an example of the project offered for the upcoming class will be displayed along with a list of materials to bring to class. Kits are not normally available except when specific kinds of beads (such as tila or super duo) are required. When kits are available, they will be offered at the instructor’s cost, usually less than $12. Kits must be requested at sign up.
